Since the spring, the coronavirus pandemic has forced many companies to suspend part or all of their production. Whether we are talking about individual work stations or an entire production line, the industrial landscape as a whole faced an unprecedented and uncertain situation. 

Fortunately, the positive signals received over the past few weeks from the health service and government are now encouraging more and more companies to resume production.

Over the past few years, we have consistently equipped our team with advanced communication systems. Thanks to this approach, the Atlas Copco team members were able to react fast and to respond to enquiries in the usual way from their home offices during lockdown. Now, Atlas Copco Industrial Assembly Solutions, Atlas Copco Tools and Scheugenpflug AG are stepping up their efforts. They have adopted comprehensive measures and assembled a broad-based package of services to provide their customers with the best possible support for returning to normal business. 

Scheugenpflug AG is showing that the completion of projects to schedule is also possible with the current contact restrictions. The company is carrying out online factory inspections via MS Teams or Skype. For dispensing tests too, customers do not need to be present on site as the Technology Center at Neustadt an der Donau has introduced a live streaming format for such tests. 

ServicePLUS  

The dispensing and adhesive bonding specialists at Atlas Copco Industrial Assembly Solutions (IAS) have adopted a similar approach. Furthermore, the company’s ServicePLUS package ensures the trouble-free restart of SCA systems. After lengthy shutdowns of production plants, materials may harden or technical complications may occur, preventing a trouble-free resumption of production. For this reason, the ServicePLUS package offers a safe start of production. Certified specialists carry out the maintenance work required with full cost transparency and eliminate any malfunctions or errors as rapidly as possible. 

A rapid restart 

Atlas Copco Tools is also ensuring that production can be resumed as smoothly as possible. The Easy Restart program offers comprehensive support. Trained service technicians ensure that all tools and workstations are ready for use. Easy Restart always includes tool cleaning and inspection. In the course of the program, discharged batteries are recharged and tests of functions are carried out on the tools. In the case of electronically controlled tightening tools and systems, the parameter settings and communications with the control systems are checked, backups are produced and data transfer safety is tested.



Alternatives to service on site 

In the case of services which currently cannot be provided at customers’ plants, we offer the possibility of sending tools in to our central workshop in Essen in order to carry out machine capability tests or to comply with maintenance intervals. Transport boxes to simplify the shipment of tools are available on request.
