Time-efficient, cost-effective maintenance with the Atlas Copco IAS repair centre for joining systems

At modern production plants, a well-thought-out maintenance strategy is becoming more and more important. Especially car manufacturers are increasingly outsourcing repairs of plant components. “Over the past few years, the repair orders received from our customers have grown by 15 percent a year on average,” Dominik Nüske, Repair Shop Team Leader with Atlas Copco IAS GmbH, explains. “This confirms that there has been a considerable increase in demand for professional repairs by manufacturers.” Atlas Copco has therefore set up a dedicated repair centre for joining system components at its location in Bretten, Germany. Among other items, these include our SCA adhesive bonding and metering systems as well as Henrob self-pierce riveting systems. “At our repair centre, we offer high-quality repair work using genuine spare parts – quick, easy and cost-effective. This has considerable benefits for our customers. In the final resort, we reduce operating expenses and increase uptime.”

Tailormade repair packages 

Customers can choose between two repair packages. In the case of individual repairs, the customer receives an individual offer and has full transparency concerning the cost and the spare parts used. In contrast, the “Easy Repair” package is a fixed-price repair service offering quick and easy handling with full cost control. “Customers choose the maintenance strategy that is best suited for them. At the same time, they can optimize their spare part strategy and reduce inventories,” Nüske adds. Both repair models are implemented by certified technicians using genuine spare parts. 

Six-month varanty

The components are subjected to comprehensive functional, high-voltage and pressure tests. The repair service is completed and recorded by a qualified repair report and Atlas Copco IAS provides a six-month guarantee for each repair. “We accompany customers through the entire life-cycle of their equipment and offer them maximum flexibility. Together with after-sales service on site, the repair centre is a key element in a tailor-made repair and maintenance strategy,” says Nüske. In addition to Bretten, Atlas Copco IAS is currently building up repair centres at its facilities in Shanghai, China and new Hudson, USA.
